April 29, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and constituents of Charter Oak-Ute,

As all of you very well know, Governor Reynolds has extended her recommendation for school closure to last through the end of the school year, which I informed you of on April 20, 2020. For the remainder of the school year, we will continue with the voluntary instructional material that we have previously done over the past 6 weeks. I know there are several questions and concerns that everyone has with this, but remember the goal is to keep your child engaged and progressing in the best manner that is feasible for all of us at this current time.  Circumstances prevent some of our efforts, but it is vital for you student to be engaged and to be able to ask questions and get answers as you see fit.  Stay in contact with our teachers, as they are working to stay in touch with you. More information will be provided to you concerning our return to school plan and potential summer or beginning of the school year programing.  There are still questions to be answered and adjustments to be made.  This all is a constantly changing process and we will adapt to be viable and provide our students and community with the education and resources they need.

Our teachers are working to provide materials for you to use in order to make this time as normal and useful as possible.  All grades will have a packet to pick-up during this time.  Also, there are on-line resources that are available for all of our students as well. It is strongly encouraged to look on-line and at the information in your packets to have a grasp of what is being provided.  Our teachers will be in contact with you and you can contact them to ask questions about any of the material.

Again, we have created an online resource center as well that will give you information about how to contact teachers and some resources that are available to you.  THIS HAS CHANGED AND BECAME EASIER TO ACCESS!  FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO FIND THOSE RESOURCES:

  1. Go to www.co-u.net
  2. Click on CLASSROOM RESOURCES along the top of the page to access your class folders.
  3. Once here, you can navigate within the folder to find your supplemental classroom resources and notes

Teachers will be updating this as they see fit.  With-in the online resources and/or packets you will find contact information for the teachers in case you have a question or would like assistance with any of the information that they have provided for you.  Please do not hesitate to communicate with them as we are here to help you in anyway we can while staying safe and following CDC and IDPH guidelines and recommendations.

On Sunday, May 3rd, we will have pick up times for the packets at the school.  We are going to stagger times as to not have a huge rush and be overloaded.  We are asking that you enter the north side of the school lot at the corner of 3rd St. and Oak St.  Once you have entered that drive, please drive to the south side of the cafeteria edition and we will have staff meet your car at the bus drop off station.  We will ask what grade levels you have and give you your packets of information through your car window.  Essentially, this is like a drive up service.  The times I am asking you to come are as follows:

PRESCHOOL and Kindergarten                    1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

1st grade and 2nd grade                                     2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

3rd grade and 4th grade                                     3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

5th grade and 6th grade                                      4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

7th grade and 8th grade                                      5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Please adhere to this schedule to allow for us to be able to be as organized as possible and try to limit the number of vehicles that are flowing through our location.  If you have students in multiple grades, come at your youngest child’s time and we will get you all of your students’ materials at that time.

If you have any further questions of concerns please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teacher regarding materials, and contact myself regarding system questions.  You can email me at aeggeling@co-u.net, or call me at 712-269-8178. Thank you and stay safe.

Respectfully,

Adam Eggeling

Superintendent/PK-8 Principal
