Morning Announcements

Morning Announcements: Thursday, May 21st, 2020         Good Morning Bobcats!!!

Today, the COU Student Council would like to recognize Mrs. Patty Staley, our JH Special Education Instructor.  Mrs. Staley will be retiring after this year.  We would like to congratulate her on her dedicated service to the Charter Oak-Ute School District and wish her the best on her retirement.  We hope that you enjoy your kids, grandkids, and family and have a good time traveling the world, especially in Florida!

Did you know that the month of May is known as National Strawberry Month?  Then it should be no surprise that today is known as National Strawberries & Cream Day!  That’s right, each year on May 21st, we combine two favorites for a celebration on National Strawberries and Cream Day. Fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream is a must when strawberries are in season. They are the perfect, refreshing, light snack on a beautifully warm day!

Interesting Fact of the Day: Did you know that the average strawberry has 200 seeds!  Also, strawberries are the first fruit to ripen in the spring!

Joke of the Day: Q: How did the music teacher get locked into the school all summer long? A: Because the keys were inside her piano.

The COU School will have personal item pickup on two days next week.  The first day will be May 26thfrom 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  We ask that any parents of students in grades Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd come and pickup your stuff.  On May 28th we ask that students in grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th come pickup your belongings from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. If you have students in several grades, come at your youngest students time and we will get you all of your student’s belongings.

This will also be the time to turn in any school issued equipment.  This includes, but is not limited to, computers, chargers, library books, and text books.  If you had any books from classroom teachers, please return these at this time, as well.  Please have all these items for us and we will get them from you.  Thank you!

Are you a 5th, 6th, or 7th grader this year and would like to be a part of this FUN Student Council group?  If so, fill out the forms that were in your last packet to become a member of the COU Student Council for next year!  These forms may be turned in when you return your computers and other school belongings on either May 26th or May 28th at the latest.  Thank you & good luck!

Do you need something FUN to do this weekend?  Well, wait no longer, the COU Student Council will be sponsoring a “Where’s Bobby the Bobcat?” Scavenger Hunt.  It’s kind of like a “Where’s Waldo” kind of thing.  That’s right, everyday they will be hiding a Flat Bobby the Bobcat figure in your hometowns of Charter Oak, Ute, and Soldier.  When you find him, take your picture next to Bobby and post it on Facebook or send it to Mrs. Christiansen and watch for him to move to a new location the next day and so on.  DON’T move Bobby or the game will end.  Bobby will make his first appearance this weekend. So, get out and see if you can find Bobby!

That’s all for today.  Remember stay safe and stay healthy!  Look for our morning announcements everyday until the end of the school year!
