Friday's Morning Announcements

Morning Announcements: Friday, May 1st, 2020

Good Morning Bobcats!!!

Today is National May Day!  On May 1st, May Day ushers in a traditional celebration of flowers and spring. In many ancient calendars, May 1st welcomed the first day of summer. This was truly a cause for celebration. One of the more popular rituals was harvesting flowers and giving them to neighbors and strangers in cone-shaped baskets. These May Baskets become more commonly known as May Day Baskets. The current tradition is observed by hanging a cone-shaped basket full of flowers or other gifts on the outside doorknob, then knocking or ringing the doorbell and running away.

·       Make a May Day Basket today.  Go to Download  to find a design to make and fill it with flowers or goodies to share.  Feel free to share your May Day basket today with any shut-in’s, classmates, teachers, or family members.  Happy May Day!

Today is also known as National School Principal’s Day. Remember to thank Mr. Eggeling for all he has done for our school, especially during this difficult time.

Throughout the school year, Mr. Eggeling assumes the commitment to lead our young people to a prosperous future. He supports and guides quality teachers and staff, resulting in productive learning environments for our children.  He shows leadership skills while being approachable. He guides the academic success and sets the tone for our entire school. In most settings, he is a visible leader, one the students and teachers see daily.  So we tip our hats to you, Mr. Eggeling, and want to let you know how much you are appreciated!

·       Interesting Fact of the Day:  Did you know???  Broccoli is actually a flower.

Happy Birthday wishes go out today to 6th Grader, Keara Schofield.  Her birthday is tomorrow, May 2nd.  We wish you all the best as you celebrate another year!

Joke of the Day:   Q:  What room doesn’t have doors?  A: A mushroom.

The COU Student Council would like to hear some good jokes!  If you have a good joke you’d like to share, submit them to Mrs. Christiansen’s email address:  bchristiansen@co-u.net and we will share them with everyone in our morning announcements and you’ll get the credit!

KINDNESS ROCKS!!!  The Student Council has started a project called “Kindness ROCKS”.  We’d love you to join in on the FUN!  Find some smooth rocks and paint them with bright colors.  Add a message of encouragement and then go “hide” your rocks around Charter Oak, Ute, or Soldier.  When someone finds your rock we ask that they share it with everyone on Facebook and then go and re-hide it or keep it and “hide” another rock that they’ve made!  Please join in on the fun and see how many rocks you find, as well!  If you’d like to see some rocks that the Student Council students have made check out their Facebook page:  Charter Oak-Ute Student Council!

Next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week!  Can you think of ways to “THANK” your teachers?  Maybe sending them a card in the mail, leaving them a “surprise” on their doorstep, a phone call, a post on Facebook about what your teacher means to you, write them a poem, or come up with an idea all your own!  What a great week to let them know you appreciate them and everything they do for you!

That’s all for today.  Remember stay safe and stay healthy!  Look for our morning announcements everyday until the end of the school year!
