March 20, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians and constituents of Charter Oak-Ute,
As we enter into this unprecedented time, we feel it is necessary to provide you and your students with resources that can help your students maintain where they are at educationally. This four-week closure is hard on us all, but it is a time for you and your student to make the best of the situation and have educational resources to help pass the time and supplement their education. This material is all optional where no credit is offered and is not required. I caution you that, even though it is optional, students need to be engaged at all points, whether it be sitting at home or at school.
Our teachers are working to provide materials for you to use in order to make this time as normal and useful as possible. In grades preschool through 5th, teachers have made packets for distribution that can be picked up from school at their designated times. Our middle school teachers have provided materials for pick-up, but have also put many things on-line in the digital platforms that we use at school. Have your middle school students log into their on-line platforms for their classes and see what their teachers have posted. In the event you do not have the internet, we have provided hard copies of the information as well.
We have made an online resource center as well that will give you information about how to contact teachers and some resources that are available to you. You can see this information by doing the following:
- Go to www.co-u.net
- Click on MENU at the top of the page
- Click on the DOCUMENTS icon
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Classroom Resources folder link
- Once here you can navigate within the folder to find your supplemental classroom resources and notes
Teachers will be updating this as they see fit. With-in the online resources and/or packets you will find contact information for the teachers in case you have a question or would like assistance with any of the information that they have provided for you. Please do not hesitate to communicate with them as we are here to help you in anyway we can while staying safe and following CDC and IDPH guidelines and recommendations.
On Sunday, March 22, we will have pick up times for the packets at the school. We are going to stagger times as to not have a huge rush and be overloaded. We are asking that you enter the north side of the school lot at the corner of 3rd St. and Oak St. Once you have entered that drive, please drive to the south side of the cafeteria edition and we will have staff meet your car at the bus drop off station. We will ask what grade levels you have and give you your packets of information through your car window. Essentially, this is like a drive up service. The times I am asking you to come are as follows:
PRESCHOOL 3’s and 4’s 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Kindergarten and 1st grade 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
2nd grade and 3rd grade 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
4th grade and 5th grade 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
6th grade and 7th grade 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
8th grade 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Please adhere to this schedule to allow for us to be able to be as organized as possible and try to limit the number of vehicles that are flowing through our location. If you have students in multiple grades, come at your youngest child’s time and we will get you all of your students’ materials at that time.
If you have any further questions of concerns please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teacher regarding materials, and contact myself regarding system questions. You can email me at aeggeling@co-u.net, or call me at 712-269-8178. Thank you and stay safe.
Respectfully,
Adam Eggeling
Superintendent/PK-8 Principal
