It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the wonderful, Mrs. LeAnne Thies. She does a great job teaching K-5 Title Math, leading K-8 TAG and being our STEM Model teacher. She has worked at CO-U for 10 years!
When asked what she loves most about working here, she stated, “I love watching the students learn and grow and how it feels like a family.” Advice she would give to new staff would be, to come with the mindset that we are here to do what is best for students. When stopping by the cafeteria she stated her favorite meal is creamed chicken over biscuits.
Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her family. This includes her husband Jerry, their 4 sons, Jerod, Jordan, Jaxson and Jamison and 3 grandchildren, Lincoln, Berkley and Bryar. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially the grandchildren.

Some things Jim enjoys most about working here is being able to work in his home town and seeing his children at work every day. When asked what advice he would give to someone just starting their career here, he stated “Join a team and volunteer, we have great individuals that work here and it is fulfilling to get to know everyone on personal and professional levels.” He also reports that his all time favorite school meal was Potato Bar. Yum!
