It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the wonderful Ms. Crysta Gierstorf! She is our wonderful English Language Arts and Reading Instructor for Middle School. She has been a full time teacher at CO-U since January.
During the 22-23 school year she was here as part of her college coursework as well as being a substitute. She Student Taught here this Fall and in January moved to full time. Some of the things she loves most about working here are, the kindness of the other teachers and staff. She states it has really helped make her first year more enjoyable. When asked what advice she would give to someone just starting their career here, she stated “Ask your questions! Everyone is more than willing to help you.” When stopping by the cafeteria she says that her favorite school lunch is pizza.
Outside of school she enjoys hanging out with her loved ones. This includes her cat Sammie as well as spending lots of time with her parents and grandma. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing video games and watching documentaries with Sammie always laying with her.


Congrats to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Bobcats of the week! They are Kelby Terwilliger, Lydia Kiepe, and Zach Hudson! Great job!

8th grade parents! Mrs. Snyder needs you help for our last bulletin board! Student Council had the idea to put toddler/baby pictures up of those that will be graduating from our building next month! The track meet for today has been postponed. The track team will still practice today in the gym.

Today we introduce Mr. Trent Lally. He does a great job as our 4th grade teacher. He has worked at Charter Oak- Ute for 9 years! He has been consistently teaching 4th grade during this time, and also coaching basketball. Initially he coached High School basketball, then Junior High girls and now Junior High boys. Some things he enjoys most about working here are the administration, teachers and the students.
When asked what advice he would give to someone just starting their career here, he stated “Get your lesson plans done or Eggeling will be a coming.” He also reports that his all time favorite school meal is Crispitos. Outside of school he enjoys spending time with his kids. This includes Baker (20), Brooklyn (17), and Baylor (12). In his free time he enjoys spending time with loved ones, going to concerts and anything with his kids.

Reminder, Parent/Teacher conferences are this evening from 4-7:30. This is one of the most important activities during the school year, when parents have the opportunity to visit with teachers about their child's progress. We look forward to seeing you there.

It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the wonderful, Mrs. Diane Gotto. She is our Food Service Director /Head Cook. She has worked at CO-U for 21 years beginning in June 2003! She started her career here doing summer cleaning in the Ute building, then moved into her current cook position.
Some of the things she loves most about working here are peacing out at 1:30 (lol), being connected with the kids keeping her young, and getting to see her granddaughter at school which is pretty cool. When asked what advice she would give to someone just starting their career here, she stated “Get to know everyone at CO-U. Don’t stay with your class or room, get out to talk to everybody.” Her favorite school meal is sacked lunches.
Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her family. This includes her husband Jeff of almost 34 years, their daughter Dana and her husband Brian and their 2 beautiful daughters, Vada (4) and Veronica (2). Also their son Josh and his wife Lindsey who are expecting a baby girl in June, along with their two dogs, Amara and Gator. In her free time she enjoys riding her golf cart around Ute, baking, shopping online and spending time with granddaughters, family and friends.

3rd grade has been learning about light and shadows in both Reading and Science. This morning we went out and traced our shadows. This afternoon we went and observed how our shadows moved! ☀️
